Shareable Work

I was honored to chat with Dr. Mary Louder, a Michigan-based doctor of osteopathic medicine with more than 30 years of experience providing integrative primary care to patients with complex medical problems. We talked about health mis-, mal- and disinformation: how to identify it, why it spreads, and how to stop it. As our country grapples to maintain effective and sensical public health policies, understanding what’s real and what’s “clickbait” is more crucial than ever.
In February 2023, I joined the Center for Health Communication at the University of Texas at Austin as a Distinguished Speaker in the McGovern Lecture Series. You can watch a recording of that talk for free.
Mental Health, Stigma, and Communication— Free Training Module Available
I have worked with an amazing team at the Center for Health Communication (a joint center between the University of Texas at Austin and the Dell Medical Center) to help create a free, 45-minute training module regarding stigmatizing language about mental illnesses. Anyone can take the module, and can sign up for additional (fee-based) modules through their new online education series.

Are you struggling to talk with loved ones about health-related topics (i.e. vaccines, treatments, healthy habits, etc.)?
I shared some tips on discussing vaccine hesitancy (and other health topics) with your loved ones, during short conversations with Dr. Breanna Routh at Montana State University.
Check out the videos here.
